women's health

MayaTech led the development of a national program to improve health outcomes for adolescent girls and women at risk for insulin resistance and prediabetes. The program will include partnerships with community stakeholders and OASH Regional Offices and their networks.

MayaTech served as the evaluator for the Office on Women's Health National Evaluation of the Coalition for a Healthier Community Initiative, using a participatory approach to design and implement the evaluation. The evaluation assessed the effectiveness of a gender-based systems approach to improve women and girl's health and eliminate gender inequalities.

MayaTech supported OWH on researching, planning, implementing, and evaluating a public health campaign, HPV VAX NOW, focused on increasing human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates among 18 to 26 year-olds. Read more on the #HPVvaxNOW campaign.

MayaTech partnered with Hager Sharp to support creation of a national, social norming campaign aimed at getting pediatric vaccinations back on track. This work included an in-depth assessment of the current pediatric vaccination landscape and development of strategies to motivate behavior change. The project's goal is to increase vaccination rates, reduce health disparities, and address the decline in pediatric vaccine administration resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

higher education

The University is developing a social network intervention to increase uptake, retention and adherence to PrEP, bundled with gender affirming therapy (GAT) in Black and Latina transgender women. MayaTech developed the interview guides, IRB protocols and contributed to content analysis, interpretation and reporting.

MayaTech provided press release, media relations, and social media strategy support to Wiley College. The efforts resulted in hundreds of social media shares, as well as social and traditional media pickup by national, local, higher education African American, and HBCU-focused media outlets. As some of the nation's smaller, private HBCUs do not have robust communications teams, MayaTech fosters the expanded visibility of these institutions via media relations support and social media strategy. The National Institutes of Health AIM-AHEAD initiative recently funded a national consortium to establish mutually beneficial and coordinated partnerships to increase the participation and representation of researchers and communities currently underrepresented in the development of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) models. The AIM-AHEAD Coordinating Center includes four cores, including the Data Science Training Core (DSTC), a partnership led by Howard University, to provide training opportunities to enhance health equity in AI/ML research. MayaTech is the external evaluator for the DSTC.
